Can You Guess This TV Theme? #34 - Answer

Did you guess 'Three's A Crowd'? The spin-off of the wildly successful 'Three's Company' was on the air for only one season back in 1984-1985, and was canceled to make room on ABC's schedule for 'Diff'rent Strokes'....

John Ritter and Mary Cadorette, as Jack Tripper and his girlfriend Vicky Bradford, try to maintain a relationship while living together above Jack's restaurant (Jack's Bistro).... Trying to throw a wrench in the gears is Vicky's unapproving father, Jack Bradford (played by Robert Mandan), who buys the building where Jack has his restaurant, and starts to meddle in Jack and Vicky's relationship.... Hilarity ensues!

As an added bonus, the producers decided to add Alan Campbell as E.Z. Taylor, Jack's 'surfer dude' assistant chef, however, there were no cameos from either the Ropers, Janet or Chrissy....

  1. Holy crap! I totally forgot about this show and LOVED it! I wish I could recall all of the forgotten sitcoms of the 1980s. I swear I wish they made TV like this today. I know it's pure garbage usually, but maybe that's why I liked it so much :( I think I need to Tweet this!

  8. @Ally - Thanks for the tweet!

@Powdered Toast Man - You have no idea how much I've wanted to use the Saved By The Bell theme.... I just don't want to use a theme with the title in the lyrics....

  13. I have to say I loved Three's Company. I think the Ropers had potential but just couldn't hold its own. I also think Three's a Crowd was doomed from the start because it was seen as a Three's Company replacement not a spin off and no one wanted that.

Did you know that Three's Company, The Ropers' and Three's a Crowd are remakes of British shows? Three's Company in England was called "Man about the House", The Roper's spinoff was called "George and Mildred" and Three's a Crowd was called "Robin's Nest".

  14. @ED - Some shows lose their luster, but 'what you talkin' 'bout Willis?'

Welcome RawknRobyn! Thanks for the compliment!

@Jerry - That's why I keep recommending you watch more British television shows!
