A New King Of Kong

In 2007, Picturehouse released a fascinating documentary titled 'The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters'. The documentary followed Steve Weibe in his attempt to dethrone Billy Mitchell (super douche canoe) as the 'King Of Donkey Kong'. Sitting uncomfortably hunched over for hours in front of the boxy arcade machines, controversy brews as the two competitors battle for classic video game supremacy!

On February 27, 2010, a new 'King Of Kong' was crowned! And it's not Steve Weibe or Billy Mitchell! New York plastic surgeon Hank Chien has demolished the old record by 11,500 points and has reached video game supremacy with a total of 1,061,700 points!

If you haven't seen 'The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters', I highly recommend the documentary.

  5. So funny - I just recommended that movie to my sister yesterday. One of the best docs around. Odd how a lame topic can make for such an interesting movie.

Billy Mitchell = douchenozzle extraordinaire. The filmmaker once said that he actually portrayed Billy Mitchell in a kinder light than he could have. Now THAT'S scary.

  12. First off, AWESOME documentary. Secondly, Steve Weibe will always be the true King of Kong. Douche Billy Mitchell was an a-hole about it all, and now this new guy gets the title without even seemingly trying. I mean, I am sure he tried, but he didn't STRUGGLE the way Steve did. Poor Steve, always the underdog.
