Accident On The Freeway

I was on my way to the City of Los Angeles, about to pass the 10 freeway / 405 freeway interchange, when a car cuts me off and tries to go across three lanes to get on the 405.... Unfortunately, when trying to get into the right lane to get on the 405, the driver that cut me off is not able to squeeze in between two cars and slams on her brakes.... The only thing I could do is slam on my brakes as well....

I was right behind the brake slammer, so even though I tried to stop, my truck started going to the right and clipped the brake slammer's bumper.... We pull to the side of the road and the crazy lady (brake slammer) starts screaming 'Didn't you see me turning! Didn't you see me turning!'

Now I'm going to have to take my truck into the shop and have to deal with insurance companies, claims adjusters and all the crap that goes along with getting into an accident.... On the other hand, thank goodness nobody was hurt and everybody was able to walk away from the accident....

  2. Didn't you see her turning???

The worst part of this is that you'll be held responsible (in my state anyway) because you should have "allowed enough distance to brake safely." Even though it was clearly her fault for squeezing into a space too small.

  3. Thank God you're not hurt. Sounds like the woman shouldn't be allowed on the road or out in public.

  4. Not getting hurt is definitely the most important thing....but really, that woman needs a remedial lesson in driving, as well as courtesy.

  6. Thank god you're okay, but she is one crazy lady and I hope she'll realize that she can't cut off three lanes like that! She should re-do her driving exam and maybe take a few courses along the way..

  7. Morons! I can't believe some people. Missing an exit is like life shattering to them. Just get off on the next one and turn around instead of putting us all in danger!

  9. I'm with Cheeseboy, miss an exit once and a while, it's good for the soul.

Asblack, Every time I read something you wrote I appreciate you more. You're a really nice, funny guy. You could of said a lot worse about that nincompoop, and/or told us that you throttled her afterwards.

No one would blame you... except the insurance company, I guess. Never mind.

  18. Well, hopefully it's a lesson learned for her and she'll think next time before assuming everyone will get out of her way! Some people are so arrogant!

  20. If you got a witness or two...You could have her held liable for reckless driving, but since that's LA I guess the chances of finding someone were pretty slim...Glad you were ok though...

  23. It's no fun at all when accidents like this happen. It's pretty scary since it could have been a lot worse. At least, no one was hurt and the damage from the cars would be easily repaired or replaced.
