Wake'N'Bacon Alarm Clock

Could this be the best alarm clock ever? Matty Sallin, Daniel Bartolini and Hsiao-huh Hsu of Mathlete.com have invented the 'Wake'n'Bacon' alarm clock.... Instead of waking up to the annoying buzz of your alarm clock, you're gently lifted from peaceful slumber by the smell of sizzling bacon.

Place a frozen slice of bacon in the alarm clock the night before, and two halogen lamps inside the clock slow cook the bacon ten minutes before you're supposed to wake up.... I'm not sure if you can eat a slice of bacon that's been left out overnight, but I'm pretty sure it will smell just as good while it's cooking....

  3. That is the coolest thing I have ever seen. I wonder if it cooks sausage too?

  4. That's hilarious... it would be awesome if they could somehow refrigerate the bacon, or pay a fairy to slip it into the oven just before the 'alarm' went off... It's a shame to waste good bacon...

  8. They should make one that the alarm sounds like sizzling bacon so all that good delicious doesn't go to waste.

  9. It better have a built in refrigeration unit as well, or you'll be going to sleep with the smell of food poisoning. ;)

  10. Totally blogged about that months ago. But I had no friends, so no one read it. I think that's a haiku. Right?

  12. I love it. Since my coffee pot is already in my room I could wake up to a plethora of delicious smells. Too bad you have freeze each piece individually. Way too much prep work for me!

  16. That seems like a good idea but I don't think just the smell would wake me up. Could they make one that opens my mouth and gently places it on my tongue?

  18. Sheer genius! But, I'm with you...not sure if it would be any good after sitting out all night. Especially in Arizona! Heck, it might cook before the lamps ever even turn on :)

  21. That's just what I need, another excuse to love bacon. I can feel my arteries hardening just thinking about it. Especially since I need at least three of them, and an egg maker.
